さいさき【幸先】

〔成功の兆し〕 a good sign [omen]; 〔前ぶれ〕 an omen (of things to come).

●幸先よく luckily; fortunately; as good luck would have it.

●幸先がいい[悪い] it augurs well [ill]; it is a good [bad] sign 《that…》; get a good [bad] start [beginning]

・そいつは幸先がいい. That's a good start [promising beginning].

・新事業は幸先が悪かった. The new business started off on the wrong foot.

●幸先のいい[悪い] propitious [unpropitious]

・幸先のよいスタートを切る make a good start 《in business》; start off auspiciously; start off on the right foot

・幸先のよいのに気をよくしていた. This first piece of good luck was encouraging [heartening].
